Davis Senior High School - Lady Blue Devils - PHILOSOPHY
The staff of the DHS Girl’s Basketball team is committed to developing basketball players but more importantly, our commitment is much deeper in wanting to help each young lady develop the skills they need for life. To have the opportunity to work with individuals within the team environment is why we coach. When individuals come together to work as a team, regardless of their role on the team, that journey is a wonderful and life changing experience!
In order to achieve those feelings though, each individual must establish priorities. When the season is long over you will not remember the details of how many games we won or lost, you will remember the journey along the way. The journey is the hard work, the bus trips, the friendships, the challenges of a long season, the competition, and the bonds you have as a team. Life is too short, live each day like it is your last, and remember the journey of the 2005-2006 season!
The priorities for the 2005-2006 season are:
1. You – in order for you to help our team, you must first help yourself. It is vital to your personal success and the team’s success that you take care of your mind, body, and soul. This season will provide you with many opportunities to experience success, enjoy them and learn from them.
2. School – it is expected that you will perform at your highest ability. It is required that every student athlete maintain a 2.0 g.p.a., our goal as a team is to have an average g.p.a. of 3.2.
3. Basketball – as coaches we are going to do our best to help you develop into the best basketball player you can be. We will embrace competition and learn from our successes and failures but overall, we will have fun. It is so important to keep everything in perspective, remember basketball is just a game.
